WhyIGotInfected?

WhyIGotInfected? is a small application whose purpose is to help you scan your system for outdated software programs and plugins.

You are welcomed by a clean design that embeds only a few configuration settings. You cannot access a help manual but the dedicated parameters look highly intuitive so you are not going to invest a lot of time into the tweaking process.

WhyIGotInfected? automates the scanning process to a single click. At the end of the process, it reveals information about the name of the utilities, current version, latest version, outdated status, as well as links to the official websites of the target tools.

The outdated programs are highlighted red, while the newly-updated ones are displayed with green. What’s more, you can generate a report with the scan results which can be saved to plain text file format on your system.

WhyIGotInfected? gives you the possibility to check the URL history of your Internet Explorer and Firefox for the last user-defined number of days. You can send a report with the URLs to a web server to verify if the history contains malware links.

We have tested the application on Windows 8.1 and came to the conclusion that it scans the system pretty quickly (this pretty much depends on the number of software tools that are installed on your system). It remains light on system resources, so the overall performance of your computer is not hampered.

All things considered, WhyIGotInfected? delivers a simplistic approach for helping you identify old software programs that haven’t benefited from an update. The intuitive feature package makes it suitable for rookies and professionals alike.
