vmCLIpboard

vmCLIpboard is a lightweight software application designed specifically for helping you run VMware CLI (Command Line Interface) commands via a graphical user interface.

The tool works with VMware VIX API and VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit. You should know that support for the VMware Open Virtualization Format Tool and VMware vSphere Command-Line Interface is in development.

You are welcomed by a clean and intuitive design where the program organizes the available commands in a tree-like display. It also keeps a list with built, executed and completed tasks, commands, virtual machine, path, and remote host.

There’s no support for a help manual but the configuration settings look easy to work with, so you can decode them on your own. Plus, the utility reveals a short description about each available command.

vmCLIpboard gives you the possibility to activate all sorts of commands with a single click. They are grouped into different categories, namely Power (start, stop, reset, or suspend a virtual machine, and resume an operation), Snapshot (create and list all snapshots, delete snapshots, and set the machine to a previous state), and Guest Operating System (e.g. run program and script, list or kill processes, rename or delete files, create directory, copy file from host to guest or vice versa).

Other important commands are related to Maintenance (e.g. list all running virtual machines, upgrade a virtual machine, delete or clone machines), VProbes (e.g. view the VProbes version on the virtual machine, load VB script, disable all VProbes), Virtual Disk Mount (e.g. mount a virtual disk, mount a volume, mount disks in read and write mode) and Virtual Disk Manager (e.g. defragment, rename, convert or prepare disk).

All things considered, vmCLIpboard helps VMware administrators automate and simplify complex CLI commands to mouse clicks.

Note: The free version of the program can only execute commands for one virtual machine at a time and does not save the built commands or application settings. You need to purchase a license for unlocking these features.
