Scientific research has greatly benefited from the increase in evermore sophisticated analysis tools. From modelers to simulators and analyzers, professional scientists can employ a wide variety of digital resources to obtain more accurate or simply superior results.

Providing a myriad of gene analysis tools, Useq is one such program that specifically targets genetic research. The real power behind this suite lies in the multiple analysis tools that each target a certain domain of research. Users can run the modules both from the command prompt and from the built-in app front-end. Results will be the same, but having a GUI is a great method of helping new users get to grips with the numerous available tools.

The number of applications available for use is quite impressive. Rather than trying to count them, one is better off describing some of their features. Professionals will find the program comes with tools for generating allele frequency tables, class averages and for detecting allelic expressions.

Tools that parse BAM files are also available, as are utilities generating BED files from random SNVs and INDELs. This is one of the great features of this analysis package: it contains both programs required for scientific modeling and analysis, but also handy utilities, which help users better manage their projects.

Examples of such tools include BAR converters, gene tables joiners, and document wrappers. Each application has its own command line parameters and a large help file is available to guide users through most issues.

To sum up, Useq can be employed by anyone in the field of genetic research, especially those users interested in gene sequencing tools.
