Portable GFXplorer is first and foremost an easier-to-deploy version of GFXplorer. This program provides in-depth information about your system and comes with a set of tools dealing with diagnostics, cleanup, task scheduling, backup, and more.
Besides the portability perk which allows you to carry the program around on various removable drives, the interface is also on par with the times. Despite having a compact build, the toolbar is rich enough to cover a lot of ground.
For example, the first tab is dedicated to your operating system. Inside there, you'll find the name and architecture of your OS, its version number, and even the installation date. Portable GFXplorer assesses the system's virtual memory and offers a summary of important system applications such as .NET Framework and DirectX versions.
Most users look for such applications to determine CPU and GPU-related specs. In this case, those details can be easily found under two tabs: "CPU, RAM, MB," and "GPU, Monitor, Audio. As you can see, there is additional info offered along with what you need.
Under the CPU menu, one can find accurate data about the processor's manufacturer, model, clock speed, socket type, cache memory, and of course, the number of total cores, both physical and logical. Also, the same menu will also expose your motherboard characteristics and RAM capacity.
As for the GPU area, that shows you your graphic card model along with the audio adapter and monitor/s setup.
before going into the tools, one can perform a small check of their current drives. All storage devices such as HDD, SSD, and USB devices will be identified and dissected by the app. Regrading partitions, you'll also be informed how much free space is left on any of those.
If all the aforementioned menus were simply offering information about your system, the Tools section is a bit more special. How so? Well, this area contains tools able to execute a number of processes in order to tweak your OS. For example, one can perform DirectX diagnosis, system configuration, registry editing, color calibration, disk cleanup and management, system restore, certificates management, and so on. These are not new tools or third-party programs, but shortcuts to your system's integrated tools.
Portable GFXplorer is a handy program that can help users with finding specific system information that would otherwise be hard to dig after. It can be safely said that the app simply comprises all the menus and tool your OS has to offer, sparing you the effort of doing that manually.
