Portable OpenChords

Portable OpenChords is a simple to use application designed to help you write musical scores and display them for audiences. The program is aimed to replace the musical sheets that you need to print out, instead, you can display the chords on the screen, in a high contrast color-scheme.

Portable OpenChords allows you to create, open and save song sheets in specific format file. The content is saved by default in the application folder, so it may easily read it and display it in the list of available scores.

The tool is designed for musicians, as well as for music teachers and allows them to create a comprehensive presentation of each chord chart. It features a high contrast display, which makes it easy for anyone to view the chords and allows you to easily control it. You may increase or decrease the fonts, as well as display the next or the previous songs, using keyboard shortcuts.

Aside from the presentation screen Portable OpenChords also works as a song composer, allowing you to import the lyrics and set the chords in the correct spots. The editing tools include a format repair function, designed to rearrange the lines in the proper shape. Each song can be saved as a project or exported in two formats: PDF, HTML.

Each song is assigned a title, author, copyright owner, as well as tempo, signature, key and capo parameters. Changing the key and capo causes all the chords to adapt to the new parameters.

Thanks to its structure, Portable OpenChords can easily run from various locations, including from removable drives, discs or external memory devices. The song project files are, by default, saved in the program’s folder, which makes them easy to detect and to import. Moreover, you can change the font style and color in the presentation mode.
