When it comes to simple drawing apps, there is no doubt that Paint is probably the first one that pops into everyone's minds. While it may be the most popular tool of this sort out there, Paint is clearly not alone.
One such utility is XYPad, a stripped-down and straightforward 2D drawing tool that makes it very simple for you to express your ideas in a graphical form.
Put simply, the program makes it possible for you to create plans, sketches, structograms, image maps, organigrams, posters and charts, just to name a few.
The first thing that gets noticed when you start to use XYPad is its overall simplicity, in terms of looks and features alike. Just to get an idea, if you were to compare Paint with XYPad, then surely Paint would seem like a really powerful and full-featured drawing tool.
Within its main and single window, you can create new drawings, open or save them, zoom in and out on your projects, select multiple objects and print or export your creations as images.
This said, working with XYPad is no difficult challenge since it comes with a small set of tools. They help you draw lines, arrows, rectangles, arcs and circles, add text boxes or polygons and load images.
You can also adjust the grid and the thickness of the pen you use to draw the lines, choose between multiple brushes, as well as mark, move, copy and delete objects with only a few mouse clicks.
Changing the object color and text properties is also part of XYPad's short list of features.
Moreover, XYPad comes with support for both importing and exporting files from and to the following formats: BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG and TIFF. Note that the app allows you to save your projects as XYD files, which can be later loaded again without any problems.
If you want a drawing program that is even simpler than the one Microsoft provides you with, then you should give XYPad a try, as it may just fit your needs.
As a final note, there is nothing you can really reproach XYPad, but it is really difficult to justify its usefulness, especially when compared to other drawing tools that not only has more features and options, but it is also better looking.
