MsgSave

Microsoft provides instructions on how to export Outlook data to a PST file, but third-party developers designed solutions that are much more easy to use. Take MsgSave, which is an Outlook add-in that can archive mailboxes, saving you both time and effort.

Following an uneventful setup process, MsgSave is installed on your computer in no time. However, if you kept Outlook opened during installation, you have to restart it afterward.

MsgSave is found in the add-ins tab of Outlook. Double-clicking on its icon reveals its main window, which enables you to configure its behavior.

There are four tabs in MsgSave's interface. The first enables you to choose the mail folder to copy and to select the backup destination. MsgSave can remember your favorite locations to make the job easier. You can configure MsgSave to save the entire folder or just the selected messages.

The Options tab provides a few advanced settings that allow you to configure MsgSave's behavior. For instance, you can choose the way to treat attachments in email messages and the format they should be saved in. Moreover, MsgSave enables you to select the fields to include in the saved message, change the delimiter to use, and define the date format. A few overwriting options allow you to manage duplicates with ease.

The purpose of MsgSave is to provide a convenient means of archiving email messages in Outlook, supporting various output destinations. It enables you to save attachments separately if you want to, and allows you to set the data to include in the backup. Overall, it is not difficult to configure and does its job as promised.
