Microsoft announced a new update for its Band smart wristband not long ago, revealing that the device would soon provide golf tracking support, thus expanding the list of support sports.

Today, Windows Phone owners have started receiving an update for the Microsoft Health, which is the companion app for the Band on all platforms, which finally brings golf support, so in case you’re a golf player and you own a Band, the fastest way to track your effort and improve your skills is to switch to Windows Phone.

Microsoft is yet to announce this new update, but the new version of Health now shows up on Windows Phone devices, so Android and iOS should get it in the coming days.

Microsoft Band was released late last year in the United States, and launched after that in many more countries across the globe because of the impressive success it experienced, and word has it that Redmond is now working on the second generation.

Basically, the so-called Microsoft Band 2 should arrive in stores later this year, and some sources have indicated that the device is already being tested in Europe, which could be a sign that Microsoft is aiming for an international launch from the very beginning.

Microsoft is yet to share any info on the second-generation Band, but expect more on this to be provided after Windows 10 comes out and the company can finally start focusing on something else than the operating system.
