Microsoft added a new “modern” Calculator to Windows 10

Microsoft went all-in on universal apps in Windows 10, so some of the programs that had previously been pre-installed in the operating system were replaced with versions specifically designed to run on PCs, tablets, and smartphones.

The old Calculator app, for instance, which came in very handy when trying to quickly do some math operations, is no longer there, but instead, Microsoft is offering a universal version that does the same thing.

Oh well, it turns out that the old version is missed and some users are asking Microsoft in the official Windows 10 Feedback app to bring it back with a future update.

“Please for the love of everything good. Give me my normal calculator instead of this terrible monstrosity of an app. Stop with the app fetish. I am on a desktop PC. I want programs not apps,” the feedback suggestion voted by nearly 2,000 people reads.

And yet, it's pretty much impossible to see the old Calculator coming back in Windows 10, especially because Microsoft wants this new universal app approach to succeed, so it has to support it no matter what.

In the meantime, if you liked the old version more, make sure you have a look in the Feedback app and vote for this suggestion. Who knows, the more votes, the bigger the chances to get it back. Maybe as a separate download?
