This is a very early UI, the company says

If you’re a Windows insider, you’ve probably heard that the new icons that were released with build 9926 aren’t really everyone’s cup of tea, so many people out there are actually criticizing the software giant for taking such a bland approach to desktop icons.

The new Recycle Bin icon was surely the big star of the show, as most testers described it as horrible and childish, especially because some people actually managed to design it in MS Paint in less than 5 minutes.

But what we see in build 9926 is just a very early UI and lots of things could change before Windows 10 gets the go-ahead, the company says. Some of the icons that are part of Windows Technical Preview are actually placeholders and they could be replaced with new, modern-looking icons by the time Windows 10 gets the go-ahead, Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, claims.

“You're seeing early UX, we're still working on many things, including icons. Your feedback helps us know where to focus,” he posted.

In other words, if you don’t like the new Windows 10 icons, try to make yourself heard. There are many ways to send feedback to Microsoft and the company has promised to read every single suggestion that it receives concerning Windows 10.

In the meantime, if you hate this icons and can’t live with them, here’s a very short guide on how to replace the desktop icons with new ones.
