Here’s what’s new in this particular release of Windows 10

Screenshots showing Windows 10 build 10031 got leaked earlier today, and now, thanks to WZor, we also get our hands on the official release notes, which actually allow us to find out what’s new in this fresh release.

As we already told you today, the new build 10031 comes with the eagerly awaited transparency effect for the Start menu and the Start screen, but also with a smaller Start button.

But under the hood, this build brings better gesture support for low-end devices which, due to their low-quality displays, might experience a number of issues on Windows 10.

According to the release notes, in build 10031 “we have enabled a larger gesture detection area around the edge of the touch display to help lower-cost devices perform edge gestures better than in previous builds.”

There are plenty of other bug fixes included in this release, such as a patch that corrects a problem which crashed the operating system if a display configuration had greater than 16 monitors.

Obviously, the new release is expected to bring some other improvements in terms of performance and visual tweaks, but all of them would be details when the build becomes available. According to our sources, build 10031 could be released as soon as today, with the built-in Windows update system designed for Windows 10 to take care of download and installation for all testers.
