Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9879 is the latest official build released by Microsoft for members of the Windows Insider Program, but if you're up for testing, there's and old version that's up for grabs right now if you know where to look.

Before opening Google and searching for download links, there's one thing you should know. The version that got leaked today is Windows 10 build 9834, which is actually even older than the first Technical Preview released by Microsoft in late September.

The first build was labeled as build 9841, so downloading Windows 10 build 9834 doesn't make much sense, unless you want to know how the new operating system advanced through different development stages.

At the same time, keep in mind that this particular version could be really unstable and it might come with several bugs, so use it at your own risk. If you do find bugs and other issues, Microsoft won't assist you in fixing them.

The newest build that's available for download right now for Windows 10 users is 9888, but again, this is an unofficial release that reached the web via file-sharing websites.

The official distribution channel only offers users build 9879, which is basically the latest one that receives support for Microsoft in case something goes wrong and you need more information on how to address a specific problem.
