The Surface 3 is smaller but “still a whole lot of Surface”

Microsoft rolled out the Surface 3 earlier this month, and the device will start shipping in early May, so the Redmond-based tech giant has started its usual advertising push to make sure the tablet sells in high numbers.

The company has thus rolled out a new Surface 3 ad today, describing the new device as a smaller brother of the Surface Pro 3 that’s “still a whole lot of Surface.”

Indeed, the Surface 3 is smaller than the Surface Pro 3 but still comes with a built-in kickstand, runs the full version of Windows 8.1, and can be used with a digital pen that makes drawing and writing really easy. The Surface 3 features a 10.8-inch screen, and the Pro 3 has 12 inches.

The Surface 3, however, is not as powerful as the Pro 3, as it features only 4 GB of RAM for the top-of-the-range model and 128 GB of storage space. It does, however, introduce some firsts for the Surface lineup, including a new microUSB charger that replaces the magnetic one.

The Surface 3 is obviously more affordable, so if you want to purchase the entry-level configuration, without a pen and keyboard, you have to pay $499 (€380) at the Microsoft store. The device will ship in early May in the United States and the other supported markets.
