Microsoft and Dropbox formed a partnership in the fall of 2014 to provide Office users with more cloud services to save their documents to, and today the two companies have announced a new phase of the agreement with the release of the official Dropbox app for Windows Phone.

This very first release of Dropbox for Windows Phone comes with options to automatically back up your photos to Dropbox, mark file as favorites “so you can get them even when you don't have an Internet connection,” and access both your personal and work accounts at once using the multi-account support.

At the same time, there are also options to pin Dropbox folders to the home screen for easier access.

Now that Dropbox is also available on Windows Phone, Microsoft might really have a hard time convincing users to stay on OneDrive, but there's one big difference that could push customers to its own service.

Dropbox offers by default 2 GB of free space, while OneDrive offers 15 GB with the possibility of increasing it to 30 GB if you agree to configure the camera roll to store photos in the cloud.

Needless to say, the application is available free of charge on all devices, so go ahead and download Dropbox for Windows Phone to see what's new and decide whether it's better than OneDrive or not.
