FFC For Linux

FCC (FEniCS Form Compiler) is an open source and freely distributed command-line software that provides a state-of-the-art and efficient compiler tool, which can be used to compile finite element variational forms under GNU/Linux systems.

The FEniCS Form Compiler has been engineered to work as a form evaluation system and JIT (Just In Time) compiler for the DOLFIN C++ interface for FEniCS. FCC can be used to compile multilinear forms.

To use the FCC software on your GNU/Linux machine, you will have to install it. Download the latest version from Softpedia, save it on a location of your choice, extract it and open a terminal emulator.

In the terminal emulator, navigate to the location of the extracted files with the ‘cd’ command, and type the “sudo python setup.py install” command, without quotes. That’s it, FCC is now installed on your system and can be used by executing the ‘fcc’ command in a Linux terminal.

It can be integrated in another Python project and invoked by using the ‘import ffc’ code. For detailed usage instructions, please read the official documentation, which can be viewed by typing the 'man fcc' command in a terminal window.

Please note that the program is written in the Python programming language and it will require you to have at least Python 2.6 installed on your computer. The UFL (Unified Form Language) and FIAT (FInite element Automatic Tabulator) libraries are also required, as well as the NumPy Python module.

FCC is part of the FEniCS project, which is a free and open source software for automated solution of differential equations, and includes the DOLFIN, FErari, FIAT, Instant, UFC, UFL, SyFi, and Viper tools. It is the official FEniCS form compiler utility.
