Linux Wheezy Startkit For Linux

Linux Wheezy Startkit is an open source, free and basic distribution of Linux build around the Systemback system backup and restore application, and derived from the award-winning Debian GNU/Linux operating system. The default langauge is Italian, uses the LXDE desktop environment, and can be used to create your very own Linux distribution, based on Debian, of course.

The Linux Wheezy Startkit operating system is distributed as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image that fits perfectly on a CD disc and boots on both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) computers. We always recommend users to write the ISO image on a USB thumb drive, which can be used to boot the operating system from the BIOS of a PC and use it in live mode without affecting your current OS.

While the ISO image will automatically start the default boot option in ten seconds from the moment the user boots it from the BIOS of his/her computer, you can choose between three main boot options, the ability to start the live system with normal configuration, in safe graphics mode or in debug mode.

LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) is the default graphical environment on Linux Wheezy Startkit. It offers a standard, familiar and traditional layout comprised of a panel (taskbar) located on the bottom edge of the screen, as well as a Conky-based system monitoring widget located on the upper right side of the screen. It also includes the Openbox window manager.

Being designed from the offset to be used for creating custom distributions of Linux, this operating system comes pre-loaded with a small set of applications. Among some of the most important ones, we can mention the VLC Media Player, Brasero CD/DVD burning software, Iceweasel web browser, Leafpad text editor, Xarchiver archive manager, LXTerminal X11 terminal emulator, StartUp-Manager GRUB customizer tool, BleachBit system cleaner, Synaptic Package Manager, GParted disk partitioning tool, as well as the Systemback backup software.
