Kubuntu For Linux

Welcome to the Vivid Vervet edition of Kubuntu, a special flavor of the Ubuntu Linux operating system built around the modern and eye-candy KDE desktop environment. It is a desktop-oriented distribution of Linux that includes a wide range of powerful and useful applications.

At the moment, the Kubuntu 15.04 operating system is distributed as two Live DVD ISO images, one for each of the supported hardware architectures (64-bit/amd64 and 32-bit/i386), which have approximately 1 GB in size each and can be written to either USB thumb drives of 2GB or higher capacity (recommended) or blank DVD discs. This edition is supported with security patches and software updates until October 2015.

The Live DVD boot menu of Kubuntu 15.04 is identical in look and functionality with the one from previous releases of the project, accessible by pressing a key on your keyboard during the default boot timeout of ten seconds.

Default boot options include the ability to try the distribution without installing it, check the disc for defects, perform a throughput system memory test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the local drive.

The Kubuntu operating system is built around the KDE4 graphical desktop environment, which offers a familiar, traditional, beautiful and modern desktop experience, comprised of a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen, from where users can navigate the main menu, launch applications, interact with running programs, as well as to access essential system functions.

Being based on the KDE project, the distribution includes a vast amount of KDE-related applications, such as the Dolphin file manager, Okular document viewer, KMail email client, K3b CD/DVD/BD burning software, Dragon Player video player, Amarok audio player and KTorrent BitTorrent client. It comes pre-loaded with the Mozilla Firefox web browser and the entire LibreOffice office suite.
