Guadalinex Lite For Linux

Guadalinex Lite is an open source and freely distributed desktop-oriented operating system derived from the world’s most popular distribution of Linux, Ubuntu, and designed only for Spanish-speaking users and computers with old or semi-old hardware components.

The Lite edition of Guadalinex is available for download as a Live DVD ISO image that has approximately 900MB in size and contains software packages optimized only for the 32-bit (x86) instruction set architecture. However, you will be able to run the distribution on modern 64-bit computers.

To boot the Guadalinex Lite operating system in live mode, without having to install it on your computer, you will have to download the ISO file, burn it on a blank DVD disc with any CD/DVD burning software or write it on a USB thumb drive of 1GB or higher capacity (recommended), which can be later boot it from the BIOS of a computer.

As expected, the entire distribution (including the Live DVD boot menu) is translated in Spanish, but you will be able to select another language from the Live DVD your native language. Boot options include the ability to try the operating system without installing it, directly start the installation, perform a system memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing OS from the local drive.

Being a lightweight version of Guadalinex, this edition comes pre-loaded with the LXDE desktop environment, which uses a traditional layout comprised of a panel located on the bottom edge of the screen, and a minimal set of open-source applications.

Default applications include the entire LibreOffice suite, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird e-mail and news client, Leafpad text editor, LXTerminal terminal emulator, as well as PCManFM as the default file manager.
