WinFF is an open source, multiplatform and completelty free graphical software that has been designed from the offset as a GUI (Graphical User Interface) front-end for powerful and popular FFmpeg command-line program.

It lets users to easily and quickly convert almost any video format supported by FFmpeg. It features a batch mode that allows you to convert multiple files, in multiple formats, at the same time.

You will be able to convert video files from your phone or digital camera, as well as Internet videos, such as YouTube, Vimeo or Dailymotion clips, which can be later played on popular media player apps.

Its graphical user interface (GUI) is easy-to-use and intuitive. Everything you need is displayed at a glance. Using the main toolbar, you can quickly add or remove video files from the conversion queue, play or preview converted files, choose the video format to convert to, select a preset and the output directory.

WinFF is a complex program, therefore we strongly recommend our users to read the detailed installation instructions provided by the WinFF developers on the project’s homepage (see link at the end of the article) for the Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE and Red Hat Linux OSes.

If you run a different distribution of Linux and WinFF is not available for download on the main software repositories, you can install it from sources, by running the ‘lazbuild -B winff.lpr’ command in the root of the source directory, after download and unpacking the archive.

Make sure that the latest versions of FFmpeg and Lazarus software are installed on your system prior to attempting installing WinFF from sources, as explained above. Also read the COMPILE.TXT file inside the source package.

Despite its name, WinFF is fully supported on both GNU/Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems. It has been successfully tested with computers supporting either of the 64-bit or 32-bit hardware architectures.
