Alexander Wolf has had the great pleasure of announcing the immediate availability for download of the first maintenance release of Stellarium 0.14, the best free and open-source astronomical observatory software.

According to the internal release notes, which we've attached at the end of the article for reference, Stellarium 0.14.1 is mostly a bugfix update that resolves some of the issues reported by users since the previous release of the software, Stellarium 0.14.

"The Stellarium development team after month of development is proud to announce the first correcting release of Stellarium in series 0.14.x - version 0.14.1. This version contains 13 closed bugs (ported from version 0.15.0)."

Among some of the new changes implemented in the first point release of Stellarium 0.14, we can mention support for side-by-side assembly technology, the addition of OAG support in the Ocular plugin, along with designations for several stars in Scorpius constellation.

Support for 4K resolutions should now work as expected, a Belarusian translation is now available for sky cultures and landscapes, the ecliptic obliquity no longer displays the wrong value, and the constellation art zooming and brightness function now work correctly.

Furthermore, Stellarium 0.14.1 addresses several issues related to the reset of the number of satellite orbit segments, supports saving of settings for various View panel options, and fixes a segmentation fault that occurred when attempting to update the stars catalog.

Last but not least, Windows users will now be able to run Stellarium from a different directory than the one where it was installed, and several outplanet moons now correctly display longitudes. Download Stellarium 0.14.1 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows right now from Softpedia.
