The developers still have some work to do on SmartGit

SmartGit, a graphical client for the version control systems Git and Mercurial with optimized workflows for multiple platforms, has been upgraded to version 7 preview 12 and is now ready for download and testing

SmartGit has been getting a lot attention lately and it's becoming an increasingly useful tool. The developers have made some serious improvements to the application, but they are still not done with the new features and modifications. That's why they are still releasing this preview versions. They are not stable, but they are showing the direction of the project.

According to the changelog, performance improvements for detecting pushed commits have been made; one global option for the reset type (hard, mixed, soft) has been implemented instead of one that was repository specific; the checked-out bookmark is now shown for the repository root instead of belonging branch; when two files are compared, the repositories will remain in a locked state; when logging a renamed file in an older, checked-out branch, the history no longer ends; and merge commits are now detected and displayed correctly.

Check out the complete changelog for a list of bug fixes and other important new features. You can download SmartGit 7 preview 12 right now from Softpedia, but please keep in mind that it's not a stable release.
