Edward Snyder, the creator and maintainer of the Debian-based Liquid Lemur Linux distribution, has announced the release and immediate availability for download of the second Alpha build of the upcoming Liquid Lemur Linux 2.0 distro.

Being based on Debian GNU/Linux 8 (Jessie), Liquid Lemur Linux 2.0 Alpha 2 comes with the final version of the LibreOffice 5.0 office suite, brings the Window Maker window manager to version 0.95.7, and updates all the in-house built Lemur apps.

Two new Lemur applications have been introduced in this second Alpha build of Liquid Lemur Linux 2.0, the Favorites and Autostart configuration tools. Additionally, the Lemur Control Center app has been replaced with APEman.

Users are being informed by the developers that, at this stage in the development cycle of Liquid Lemur Linux 2.0, the APEman (Add-ons, Projects, Editions manager) tool is not complete, and the Lemur User's Guide and APEman's Guide are not available.

"There is still much work to be done, but this release is very much usable and stable. The Lemur repo has been updated as well. Lemur is back on a Debian base (Jessie in this release) and back to 64bit only," says Edward Snyder.

Last but not least, the Themer and Morpher tools are currently in an experimental state. Download Liquid Lemur Linux 2.0 Alpha 2 right now from Softpedia. However, please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, not suitable for production use.
