The Qt Company announced the release and immediate availability for download of the first RC (Release Candidate) build of the upcoming Qt 5.6 GUI (Graphical User Interface) toolkit.

Qt 5.6 has been in development for about two months now, as we reported news on the first Beta build sometime around Christmas 2015, when we told you a thing or two about the upcoming features to be implemented in the final Qt 5.6 release.

"I am happy to announce that Qt 5.6.0 Release Candidate is finally available," said Jani Heikkinen. "Please download it and take a tour. With the RC, Qt 5.6 is very close to final release, and all feedback is welcome to ensure the best possible 5.6.0 release."

Well, it looks like it won't be long until Qt developers around the world can finally upgrade to Qt 5.6 and get their hands on all the new features and improvements it brings, but until then, they can help the Qt team fix the last remaining issues.

You can download the latest Qt 5.6.0 Release Candidate builds right now via our website or directly from the official announcement, for GNU/Linux, Android, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Just please try to keep in mind that this is still a pre-release version, which means that it may contain bugs and it is not recommended for deployment in production environments.
