As you may know, the first stable and mature version of the Vulkan 3D API (Application Programming Interface) has been released today, February 16, 2016, and now many open source projects are looking into implementing it in their software.

The development team of the best free PSP (PlayStation Portable) emulator, PPSSPP, announced on Twitter that they would add support for the new Vulkan 3D API in future versions of the application, thus improving the overall performance.

"The new 3D API Vulkan is here! PPSSPP will support it in future versions, for better performance where available," revealed the PPSSPP developers in a tweet earlier today.

The announcement comes as fantastic news for all fans of the PPSSPP project, as they will see some graphical enhancements when playing PlayStation Portable (PSP) games on their personal computers or mobile devices.

PPSSPP is not only an open source project, but also cross-platform, known to work on almost all popular operating systems, including, but not limited to, GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Android, iOS, Blackberry 10, and Symbian.

Two days ago, we reported the release of the major PPSSPP 1.2 version, which brought a lot of new features to the free PSP emulator, but the team is now teasing users with first point build, PPSSPP 1.2.1, promising to fix shutdown/app switching problems.
