Amygdala, a new 2D platforming adventure developed and published on Steam by a studio called MachineSpirit, has been released on multiple platforms, including Linux.

Amygdala is a game that allows users to play as a disembodied head in a procedurally generated world. And, to make things even more interesting, permadeath is always the biggest threat that looms over the players. The Linux platforms will make room for extremely difficult games and it looks like the community is also liking it.

"When a man has his body stolen he typically has one of two reactions; he either dies, or he sets out on an adventure as a disembodied head, hell-bent on revenge. Amygdala is an action/adventure platformer where every living world you explore is a freshly generated permadeath challenge. There’s no hands and no handholding as you face off against swordheads, voidpigs, giant swarms of beez and the wizard that stole your body," reads the Steam synopsis.

The system requirements for the game are really low and most users will be able to play. You just need to have a 2 GHz Dual Core processor, 1 GB or RAM, 100 MB of available space, and it needs Java 7 or OpenJDK. The game also comes with a 10% discount that is scheduled to end on July 22.
