The openSUSE Tumbleweed distro has received another set of updates this week, and the distribution is now using Linux kernel 4.0.4, which is the most advanced version available right now.

openSUSE Tumbleweed is the rolling release version of the famous OpenSuSE distro, and it received numerous updates, including some of the latest bleeding-edge packages. Not too many operating systems out there have Linux kernel 4.0.4, but Tumbleweed is an exception. Even so, not everything you find in this branch of openSUSE will be that fresh. Some of the packages still need to be tested before arriving in this distro.

"The last week has been an interesting one: we can proudly talk of Tumbleweed to be rolling smooth this week: there has been one release published per day (since 0521 so far up to 0528). This is the longest streak we had, as far as I remember. Yet, I have some trouble to find 'exciting' changes in those snapshots. They are all minor version updates, which on their own are certainly important for some users. But 'buzzing' about them is difficult," wrote Dominique Leuenberger.

According to the changelog, the Linux kernel has been updated to version 4.0.4, Timezone 2015d has been implemented, the firewall service has been auto-enabled, and Apache2 has been updated as well.
