MythTV is a powerful Digital Video Recorder and home media center that comes with a wealth of features. The developers have published a new update for it, after a long hiatus.

We don't see too many MythTV releases, and that's a real shame since this is an amazing application and it deserves more attention. From the looks of it, the developers are trying to get back in the game.

The previous MythTV version was launched back in October 2014, so it took them a year and a half for this next one, and it's not a big jump.

According to the changelog, only visible channels to mark first/last showings are now used, the YouTube region preference is now used by default, the channel detection has been fixed, the YouTube grabber is now using the v3 API, a number of translations have been refined, when a failed recording is stopped, the cleanup is now complete, memory information on kernel 4.x is now gathered properly, and lots of other fixes have been implemented.

These are just a few of the changes and fixes that users will find in this version. Also, keep in mind that you will download the source and not the binary file.

A comprehensive changelog can be found in the official wiki. You can download MythTV 0.27.6 right now from Softpedia. There are no precompiled binaries, only the source packages are available.
