The Document Foundation has released the second RC for the upcoming LibreOffice 5.0 version, and it looks like the developers are making a final push for the new version of the office suite that is scheduled to land in July.

Each new RC for LibreOffice brings us closer to the promised 5.x branch, which has been touted as the best release made so far, and from what we've seen until now, it's going to be full of new features and a ton of fixes, way too many to count.

In any case, it looks like the current RC release has quite a few DOCX improvements, among other things. According to the changelog, the inline picture now has spacing after DOCX import, a DOCX import regression has been fixed, the Impress/Draw toolbars and context menu have been improved, and the bullets picture is now the correct size.

Moreover, dragging a field from the Data Sources window into a document now works properly, and numerous other fixes have been implemented.

As usual, installing a Release Candidate is not without risks and it should not be done on production machines. You can download the latest LibreOffice 5.0 RC from Softpedia and give it a try.
