14 DAY TRIAL // Details about a number of libxml2 vulnerabilities that have been found and fixed in Ubuntu 15.10 Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS have been published in a security notice.
The libxml2 package has been upgraded and a number of issues have been corrected. libxml2 stands for GNOME XML library, so it's an important piece in an OS. As usual, upgrading the system is a good idea.
"Michal Zalewski discovered that libxml2 incorrectly handled certain XML data. If a user or automated system were tricked into opening a specially crafted document, an attacker could possibly cause libxml2 to crash, resulting in a denial of service. This issue only affected Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Ubuntu 15.04, " reads the security notice.

The problems can be repaired if you upgrade your system to the latest libfreetype6 packages specific to each distribution. To apply the patch, users will have to run the Update Manager application.
