The GNOME Project released earlier today, August 3, the fifth maintenance release of the stable GNOME Software package manager application for the GNOME 3.16 desktop environment, a version that fixes seven issues.

According to the raw changelog, which we have attached at the end of the article for reference, GNOME Software 3.16.5 now displays the progress of the installation of new packages, and adds multiple improvements to featured app banners.

Moreover, a crash that occurred when attempting to launch an installed application from within GNOME Software was fixed, and the styling of the History dialog was updated to no longer allow clicking on rows that are not clickable.

Last but not least, GNOME Software now makes sure that non-installable packages are correctly hidden in the Category view. Also, a bug that caused "Source: Unknown" to be displayed in the App Details view was fixed.

All users of the GNOME 3.16 desktop environment are urged to update the GNOME Software application to version 3.16.5 as soon as possible through the official channels of their GNU/Linux distributions, or by downloading the GNOME Software 3.16.5 sources from Softpedia.
