During the release cycle of the GNOME 3.18 desktop environment, the GNOME developers have updated the GNOME Initial Setup component, which is displayed only once when you first install the GNOME desktop on your GNU/Linux distribution.

GNOME Initial Setup 3.17.4 has been released as part of the GNOME 3.17.4 unstable desktop environment and brings features like support for creating unencrypted keyrings, refinements to the Password page, and better handling of disabled networks.

Moreover, GNOME Initial Setup now uses the right key for privacy policy, adds proper resize support to the Policy dialog, and makes the GNOME Shell interface launch first. Additionally, a crash that occurred during language change has been patched, and a race condition is now avoided during launch of the welcome tour.

Last but not least, several language translations have been updated in this unstable version of the GNOME Initial Setup software, among which we can mention Catalan, German, Hebrew, Czech, Greek, Hungarian, and Friulian.

As mentioned, GNOME Initial Setup 3.17.4 is distributed as part of the GNOME 3.17.4 desktop environment, so those of you who want to test it can either install GNOME 3.17.4 in your GNU/Linux distribution or download the GNOME Initial Setup 3.17.4 sources right now via Softpedia.
