14 DAY TRIAL // The developers behind the Enlightenment open-source desktop environment have had the great pleasure of announcing today, November 30, 2015, the immediate availability for download of the final release of Enlightenment 0.20.0.
According to the release notes, Enlightenment 0.20.0 is now available for all GNU/Linux operating systems and is the biggest release of the lightweight desktop environment/window manager ever made, bringing all sorts of awesome new features, numerous under-the-hood improvements, and many other goodies.
"The E20 development cycle has come to a close, with 1890 patches submitted by over 50 developers in the course of 441 days," said the Enlightenment developers. "I'd like to personally thank everyone who contributed, whether by submitting patches, writing documentation, reporting bugs, or simply providing feedback on IRC."
Prominent new features of Enlightenment 0.20.0 include full support for the next-generation Wayland display server, a new screen management infrastructure, which also includes a new dialog, the addition of a Geolocation module, as well as better support for the FreeBSD operating system.
Furthermore, the new stable release of the Enlightenment desktop environment introduces a new audio mixer infrastructure and gadget and replaces numerous of the internal widgets with the new Elementary component. Enlightenment 0.20.0 is now available for download as sources from Softpedia and will arrive soon in the default software repositories of select GNU/Linux distributions.
