The developers of the Debian-based Q4OS Linux distribution sent an email to Softpedia earlier today to inform us about the release and immediate availability for download of the Q4OS 1.4.1 operating system.

The biggest change in the Q4OS 1.4.1 release is the availability of the recently announced Trinity Desktop Environment R14.0.1 desktop environment. For those of you who are not in the loop, we want to remind you that the Q4OS distro is built around the TDE (Trinity Desktop Environment) project, an open-source piece of software that has a single design goal in mind, to keep the spirit of the old-school KDE 3.5 desktop environment alive.

"The significant Q4OS 1.4 'Orion' release adopts new Trinity R14.0.1 version. Trinity R14.0.1 is the first maintenance release of the R14 series, and is the result of several months of ongoing effort by the TDE development team. It brings numerous improvements and fixes, the complete list and release notes you will find on the Trinity desktop environment website," said the Q4OS developers.

The Q4OS 1.4.1 release supersedes the Q4OS 1.2.8 distro that was announced two weeks ago. While new users can download Q4OS 1.4.1 Installation and Live media for 64-bit and 32-bit hardware architectures right now from Softpedia, existing Q4OS users will be able to update to the new Trinity Desktop Environment R14.0.1 desktop environment in the coming days.
