CodeWeavers, the company behind the commercial CrossOver application for GNU/Linux and Mac OS X operating system, which aims to be a user-friendly graphical interface for Wine, announced the availability of CrossOver 14.1.6.

According to the release notes, CrossOver 14.1.6 addresses two issues for GNU/Linux systems, one related to failure to load the libX11 library on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 and CentOS 6.7 operating systems, and a second one related to the unmet dependencies of the libosmesa6 library on the Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS (Trusty Tahr) distro.

On the other hand, the sixth maintenance release of CrossOver 14.1 fixes a crash on the Beta builds of the anticipated Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan operating system that occurred when the user attempted to select a bottle in the graphical interface. Lastly, CrossOver 14.1.6 fixes an installation crash with the Mamut business software.

CrossOver 14.1.6 is available for free, as an update, to all existing customers running a GNU/Linux distribution or Mac OS X. New users will have to either download a free trial or purchase a license from the project's website. Discounts for the app are available all the time.

We remind everyone that CrossOver is a GUI for Wine, an open-source software that lets users run Windows apps and games under OS X and Linux kernel-based operating systems. More details about Wine can be found on its website.
