Neophytos Kolokotronis from the Chakra GNU/Linux project had the great pleasure of informing all Chakra users about the immediate availability of a new update for the rolling-release distribution.

Initially announced on June 22, 2015, the update, which appears to be of major proportions, adds two new kernels and updates some of the most important packages and applications, including the Calligra office suite and KDE components.

"This upgrade consists of several updates of the packages that ship in Chakra's core repository, with the more notable ones being the linux kernel update to 4.0.5 and the linux-lts (long term support) kernel to 3.14.44," says Neophytos Kolokotronis.

Therefore, if you update your Chakra GNU/Linux operating system(s) today, you will get the latest stable Linux kernel 4.0.5, along with Linux kernel 3.14.44 LTS, the Calligra 2.9.5 office suite, as well as KDE's Frameworks 5.11.

Additionally, the update includes the latest Nvidia 346.72 and AMD Catalyst 15.5 video drivers, and many other updated packages like Qt 4.8.7, Qt 5.4.2, CUPS 2.0.3, D-Bus 1.8.18, MariaDB 5.5.44, PHP 5.6.10, Sudo 1.8.13, OpenSSL 1.0.1o, digiKam 4.11.0, and Wine 1.7.45.

All Chakra GNU/Linux users are urged to upgrade their systems as soon as possible in order to receive the updated components mentioned above. Use the built-in software updater utility to apply the new updates.
