The maintainers of the Chakra GNU/Linux project, an open-source, rolling-release distribution based on the ever popular Arch Linux operating system and built around the KDE desktop environment, announced the availability of a new update.

Therefore, we can report today, August 16, that the stable software repositories of the Chakra GNU/Linux distro have been updated on August 15, 2015, with Linux kernel 4.1.4, LibreOffice 5.0, Wine 1.7.49, Qt 5.5.0, Nvidia 352.30 proprietary video driver, as well as xf86-video-intel 2.99.917, the open-source Intel video driver, which has been patched to no longer crash the KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment.

"It should be safe to answer yes to any replacement question by Pacman. If in doubt or if you face another issue, please ask or report it on the related forum section," says Neophytos Kolokotronis. "As always, make sure your mirror is fully synced (at least for the core, desktop and platform repositories) before performing this update, by running the mirror-check application."

As usual, all users of the Chakra GNU/Linux who want to get the new software versions detailed above, are urged to update their installations as soon as possible. It is always good practice to keep your Chakra GNU/Linux operating system up to date with the latest software versions. Do not hesitate to report any issues you might find after this update.
