Jacque Montague Raymer, the developer of the MakuluLinux computer operating system has published earlier today a new video on YouTube, this time showcasing an upcoming edition of its Linux distribution, MakuluLinux Unity.

As the name suggests, MakuluLinux Unity is a special edition of the MakuluLinux operating system built around Ubuntu’s Unity desktop environment. The distribution will be based on the stable Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS (Trusty Tahr) distribution.

It will include UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) support and will be distributed as a Live DVD ISO image that contains software packages optimized only for the 64-bit (x86_64) computer platforms. The distribution is built using the Makulu-Constructor tool.

In the 13-minute-long video, the MakuluLinux developer shows us what we can expect from the upcoming Unity Edition of the operating system, as well as the main reason why he decided to create a distro based on the controversial Unity interface.

The developer managed to make the Unity Panel and Launcher transparent, as well as the terminal window, and also included some wobbly Compiz effects. It also uses the user-friendly App Grid package manager instead of Ubuntu Software Center.

“It is time to kick development into top gear,” said Jacque Montague Raymer. “This is a year I really want to put my all into this project, I will work twice as hard as everyone else and make Makulu really stand out in 2015.”

Until MakuluLinux Unity Alpha 1 is available for download and testing, you can check out other MakuluLinux editions on Softpedia, including the Cinnamon, KDE, Xfce, and Enlightenment desktop environments.
