Martin Wimpress has had the great pleasure of informing all users of the Ubuntu MATE Linux distribution, a special flavor of Ubuntu built around the MATE desktop environment, that the MATE Tweak tool will support new window managers.

For those who don't know yet, MATE Tweak is a unique graphical configuration utility for the MATE desktop environment, developed by Martin Wimpress. It is designed especially for Ubuntu MATE, allowing users to tweak the performance and appearance of MATE.

With today's announcement, the MATE Tweak tool received support for new window managers, including Mutter, which brings elegant GPU-accelerated desktop effects, and Metacity, which offers simple desktop effects.

Other supported window managers in Ubuntu MATE's MATE Tweak tool include Compiz for advanced GPU-accelerated desktop effects and Marco for simple desktop effects.

"People asked for it, we delivered! MATE Tweak will support more window managers. Marco, Metacity, Mutter and Compiz," says Martin Wimpress, lead developer and founder of the Ubuntu MATE project, on the official Twitter account of Ubuntu MATE.

The new version of MATE Tweak will be available to Ubuntu MATE 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) users in the coming days, and it might be added to the software repositories of the Ubuntu MATE 14.04 LTS operating system in the near future.
