Oracle, through Michele Casey, had the pleasure of announcing today, March 13, the general availability of Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.1, a computer operating system designed for enterprise environments and based on the Linux kernel.

Highlights of Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.1 include a 64-bit unbreakable enterprise Linux 3.8.13 kernel, a Red Hat Enterprise Linux compatible 3.10.0 kernel, also for x86_64, Linux container support via Docker or LXC (Linux Containers), production support for the Btrfs file system, complete dynamic tracing with DTrace, as well as all support for the latest third-party hardware.

“We're happy to announce the general availability of Oracle Linux 7 Update 1, the first update release for Oracle Linux 7. All packages are currently available on ULN and public yum; ISO installation images will be freely available for download from the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud soon.” says Michele Casey.

Anyone can download Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.1 right now via Softpedia or directly from Oracle’s cloud system. The operating system can be used and distributed free of charge.
