The developer is preparing a big update for the application

The OpenShot Video Editor is preparing to get a major improvement as its developer has just revealed that he managed to improve the performance ten-fold.

One of the things that you really want from your video editor is for it to be very fast, but everyone knows that that's probably not happening. Most of the solutions available right now on the Linux platform perform as you would expect them to, but the developer of OpenShot has something else in mind.

"Big news everyone! I've made some huge changes to libopenshot (the framework which powers the next version of OpenShot), and have increased the speed by a factor of 10 (give or take). 66 source files gutted and rebuilt. I've also published the source code to the PyQt interface on LaunchPad and Github, and am hoping to finally wrap up the interface changes soon. It is all coming together! I'll be posting a more in-depth update very soon!" reads the announcement on Google+.

OpenShot has been around for a few years, but the development has picked up some Steam in the past few months, and it looks like it's going to be a very exciting year for this application. You can download OpenShot Video Editor 1.4.3 right now from Softpedia, but a major new update seems to be on its way.
