The community port for this device is coming along

The community has been working on OnePlus One Ubuntu Touch, and they are making good progress. They just managed to get Wi-fi going a few days ago, and now they have also gotten the OTA updates to work.

The OnePlus One Ubuntu Touch port is one of the first that were made public a few months ago, shortly after the porting guide was published by Canonical. This is not a supported port, but that didn't stop the community. Developers have put a lot of effort into this port, but it's a difficult process and it takes time.

Making the Ubuntu Touch OS work on other phones is difficult, but not impossible. In fact, OnePlus One users can get Ubuntu Touch to run on their phones, but the GSM module and the Wi-fi modules are a different story. In any case, devs have managed to make the Wi-fi work, and now the OTA updates are also available. As it stands right now, OnePlus One is the most advanced community adoption of Ubuntu Touch.

"No more hard install/updates methods, now you can install using one command, and get OTA updates directly to your phone!  Install using MultiRom is coming!" was noted in the official forum. You can find a handy tutorial on the same forum, but please remember that you will erase your phone in the process.
