This is an update for the Beta branch of the app

Valve has released a fresh Steam Beta client and the devs have made quite a few improvements to the application and they have implemented a couple of Linux-specific features.

The latest development cycle for the Steam client has been rather slow and not too many features have landed for it, but that's understandable if we take in consideration that the previous stable release has been a big one. For now, only small corrections have been added, although some of them are pretty interesting.

The new Steam client has expanded the recent games list to also include the latest purchases as well, the UI is now used correctly when displaying the owned DLCs for a particular title, it's now possible to delete the cookies used by the internal browser, a crash that occurred in OpenGL games when taking screenshots or recording video has been fixed, the application no longer stalls when switching from Steam to Big Picture, and the text rendering in Big Picture mode for Linux has been repaired.

You can download the Steam for Linux client from Softpedia. In order to get the Beta version, you will need to subscribe to it from Preferences. Please be careful when installing apps that are still in development. Bugs might still be present and users shouldn't really try it if they don't have any issues with the stable version.
