NetworkManager, a program that acts as network connection manager for most RPM and Debian-based distributions and that's part of the GNOME stack, is now at version 0.9.10.2.

Some of you might remember that NetworkManager made the jump to the legendary version 1.0, so you're probably still wondering what this new version in the 0.9 branch is all about.

Well, as it turns out, the 0.9 branch was not abandoned and it's still being maintained. It's unclear what version will be provided with the GNOME 3.16 stack, but from the looks of it, this is a very good candidate. Maybe the world is not yet ready for GNOME 3.16 and NetworkManager 1.0 at the same time.

According to the changelog, layer 2-only connections that don't have an IP configuration are now allowed, it's not much more reliable to send the DDNS hostname via DHCPv6, connections are now assumed for slave interfaces, and assumed connections are no longer disconnected automatically.

Check out the official changelog for a complete list of new features and updates, as well as changes added in previous versions. You can download NetworkManager 0.9.10.2 right now from the official website or you can be a little adventurous and install the 1.0 version, which will need to be compiled.
