Linus Torvalds, the creator of the Linux kernel and the current maintainer of the most advanced versions released, has just turned 45 and we wish him "Happy Birthday."

Linus released the first edition of the Linux kernel back in 1991, so he has been working on it for almost half of this life. It's easy to understand why the two names are almost saying the same thing and why he still has a great influence on the project.

He is currently employed by the Linux Foundation, where he takes care of the most advanced branch of the Linux kernel. He's the maintainer for it and he's basically the front man for the Linux kernel and a very important public figure. On the other hand, he never made a big deal out of his birthday.

On the other hand, in order to celebrate him, The Linux Foundation has posted a video of him in which he explains how people should say his name and why he's not even using the Finnish pronunciation. He's now also an American citizen, so he's using their way of saying it. He even points out that his fellow Finnish compatriots are also mispronouncing his name, so don't feel too bad if you don't know the proper way to say it either.

Enjoy!
