Linux Kernel 3.18 is still used in numerous distributions of GNU/Linux, despite that fact that Linus Torvalds announced the final release of Linux 3.19 kernel on February 8, 2015, so it is time to update it to version 3.18.7, which was announced by Greg Kroah-Hartman a few hours ago, on February 11.

According to the changelog, Linux Kernel 3.18.7 is a quite small maintenance release of the stable 3.18 branch of the Linux kernel. It brings several fixes for the x86, ARM, and MIPS CPU architectures, various fixes to the Radeon video driver, a couple of fixes to the NILFS2 filesystem, a single change to the CIFS filesystem, as well as other important fixes.

“I'm announcing the release of the 3.18.7 kernel. All users of the 3.18 kernel series must upgrade. The updated 3.18.y git tree can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git;a=summary” said Greg Kroah-Hartman in the announcement.

In similar news, the LTS (Long Term Support) Linux kernel 3.14.33 and 3.10.69 has also been announced by Greg Kroah-Hartman. They include a smaller number of changes when compared with the 3.18.7 release of the Linux kernel. As usual, you can download Linux kernel 3.18.7, 3.14.33 LTS, and 3.10.69 LTS right now from Softpedia, or wait for your distribution vendor to update the kernel packages.
