Today we have some awesome news for all Chakra GNU/Linux users, as its developers have announced the immediate availability of some of the latest Linux technologies in the main software repositories of the Arch Linux-based distribution.

Therefore, all Chakra users should be aware of the fact that the recently released KDE Applications 15.04.2 software suite for the KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment is now available in the distribution's repos (see below for details on upgrading).

Additionally, the developers have also updated the KDE4 Workspace desktop environment to version 4.11.20, the KDE PIM (Personal Information Management) suite to version 4.14.9, and the KDE Libraries also to version 4.14.9.

The Chakra developers have also managed to add the latest point releases of some of the greatest open-source projects, such as the Wine 1.7.44 software for running all sorts of Windows app in Linux, the powerful Mozilla Firefox 38.0.5 web browser, and Git 2.4.1.

Users are informed that, if they want to switch their KDE4 desktop environments to the next-generation KDE Plasma 5, including KDE Applications 15.04.2, they will have to follow some instructions on enabling Chakra's [kde-next] repository.

"It should be safe to answer yes to any replacement question by Pacman," wrote Neophytos Kolokotronis. "As always, make sure your mirror is fully synced (at least for the core, desktop and platform repositories) before performing this update, by running the mirror-check application."
