14 DAY TRIAL // On March 12, Clement Lefebvre had the pleasure of announcing a new tool that will be implemented in the upcoming Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 (codename Betsy) computer operating system. The tool is called Blueberry and allows users to properly configure Bluetooth on Linux Mint OSes.
Blueberry was born due to the lack of a proper utility for configuring Bluetooth on Linux Mint operating system, as the Linux Mint developer, Clement Lefebvre, explains in a blog post. It is designed from the ground up as a drop-in replacement for the Cinnamon-Bluetooth and Blueman utilities.
“At the same time, we were experiencing issues with blueman within the MATE edition.. and we wondered why we were working on a bluetooth tool for just one particular edition and trying to get an external tool working for us on another, when instead we could simply design a solution that would work across the board for all our desktops.”
Blueberry is a smart tool that automatically detects and integrates into the Cinnamon and MATE desktop environments used in Linux Mint distributions, as well as the well-known GNOME, Xfce, and Unity desktops. It’s a graphical front-end for the gnome-bluetooth command-line program. Blueberry resides in the system tray area and does not annoy users.
