GParted Live, a small bootable GNU/Linux distribution for x86-based computers that can be used for creating, re-organizing, and deleting disk partitions with the help of tools that allow managing file systems, has been upgraded to version 0.21.0 Beta 1.

We don't get to see too many Betas for this particular distribution, but now we have one and it's ready for testing. Unfortunately, there isn't much to be seen, although some of the core components of the OS have been upgraded.

"The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2015/Jan/19)" reads the official changelog. Also, the Gparted application has been upgraded and the Linux kernel is now at version 3.16.7-ckt4-1. This is actually a very important upgrade because this type of distros need new kernels in order to run on as many hardware configurations as possible.

GParted Live can be installed on CD, USB, PXE server, and hard disk, then run on an x86 machine. A complete list of new features and bug fixes can be found in the changelog, and that includes all the modifications made until now.

You can download GParted Live 0.21.0 Beta 1 right now from Softpedia. It's a very small OS and users should have no problem running it on virtually any PC. Please keep in mind that this is still under development.
