Canonical has just announced a Firefox vulnerability has been corrected and that version 37.0.2 of the browser has been integrated into Ubuntu 15.04 and all the other supported Ubuntu versions.

Ubuntu maintainers are a little late to integrate the latest Firefox version into Ubuntu, but the 37.0.2 version of the browser is finally here, and it's available for upgrade. Surprisingly, this is a rather small update, which doesn't really happen with Firefox.

"Robert Kaiser discovered a use-after-free during plugin initialization in some circumstances. If a user were tricked into opening a specially crafted website, an attacker could potentially exploit this to cause a denial of service via application crash or execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user invoking Firefox," reads the security notice.

For a complete list of changes, you should check the security notice. The affected platforms are Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Ubuntu 14.10, and Ubuntu 15.04. To get this, you can simply run the Update Manager application, but you can also use the terminal.

Open a terminal and enter the following commands (you will need to be root and you will need Internet access):

code
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Please keep in mind that you will have to restart the application in order to complete the updating process.
