The MATE/Compiz Spin of the Fedora Linux distribution has also been updated along with the announcement of the Fedora 22 Alpha operating system, as reported on Softpedia a few days ago.

Until now, we have given you screenshot tours of the Fedora 22 Alpha Xfce Spin, Fedora 22 Alpha KDE Spin, as well as Fedora 22 Alpha Live Workstation, which includes the latest Beta version of the forthcoming GNOME 3.16 desktop environment, due for release on March 25.

At the request of some of our dedicated readers, we’ve taken the Fedora 22 Alpha MATE Spin for a quick test drive to create an in-depth screenshot tour and report some of the improvements and new features that got implemented.

First of all, the MATE/Compiz edition of Fedora 22 Alpha is also powered by the Linux kernel 4.0 Release Candidate 1 (RC1), just like all the other Fedora 22 Alpha spins. The version of the MATE desktop environment is now 1.9.4.

Among the included software packages, we can mention Mozilla Firefox 35.0.1, Claws Mail 3.11.1, LibreOffice 4.4.0, Transmission 2.84, Audacious 3.5.2, and Filezilla 3.10.0.2. Download Fedora 22 Alpha MATE/Compiz Live CD right now from Softpedia, but please note that it's an unstable operating system.
